What was your first vintage at Cutting Edge?
2019
What other experience do you have in the wine/restaurant industry? How did this experience set you up for success at CES?
Mainly a 15 year stint at (formerly the other great fine wine distributor from Cincy area). I worked with a plethora of great people who helped create a well-rounded education in the wine industry allowing me to build some amazing with relationships with my customers in Louisville & across parts of Kentucky.
What made you want to work for CES?
The Wine, The People, The Cool Attitude to the Wine Biz...Serious & Passionate with a sense of Joy in selling the best wines in the world.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Turning my customers (and hopefully their consumers) on to a wine varietal or region that they may not have known existed before.
What was your 'light bulb' wine experience?
A tasting of a winery from Mount Etna, Sicily. I was able to taste through an array of Nerello Mascalese based wines that re-inforced my joy in finding great wines from "off the beaten path"
What is your favorite wine region? What do you love about it?
Loire, France A wine region defined by great crisp, mineral driven white wines & elegant, fresh understated red wines with some beautiful sparkling wines as well. Some of my faves that we represent would be Domaine de la Pepiere Muscadets, Langlois-Chateau Cremants, Domaine Baumard Savenierres & Domaine Baudry Chinon to name just a few!
What is your favorite wine on a snow day?
E. Guigal Crozes Hermitage
What is the last moment that took your breath away?
Going to Seven Hills / Ferguson Vineyards with L’Ecole in Walla Walla, Washington
What is your ideal way to spend a day off?
All 3 dogs walked in morning (with an extra long hike with George, the beagle/hound as bonus & On the Media podcast on earbuds:-), walk Big 4 bridge with my daughter Poppy, dinner (home cooked off grill) with my wife Jodey with a good wine or 2 or 3 haha,...gotta recover form all that walking!!
What wine region would you like to go purely on vacation and why?
Dalmatian Coast, Croatia. I can hang out at Bilo Idro, drink Zlatan Otok wine and eat fresh seafood hanging out on the beautiful Adriatic.
